Farewell, Sara

For me, making art is not only just an ordinary activity, especially the pet portrait commission. I love listening to your stories on how those goofy faces and dirty paws bring joy to your life. And there's great excitement in my heart knowing I am able to paint your pet portrait for you to keep forever.

I was on my phone this morning when my beloved customer told me that she lost her fur friend, Sara. I painted Sara the greyhound on Christmas 2021 along with her friend that was also a rescue.

Art that stay forever

Heather rescued Sara in Washington. She was a race dog, and we all need to know that dog racing is one of the animal sports that kills a lot of dogs (usually greyhound). With this blog, I'd love to encourage us to never support dog race and if possible, adopt an ex-racer greyhound just like Heather awesomely did!

Many racing dogs suffer injuries while racing; according to state records, a racing greyhound dies every three days on a Florida track. These social creatures are also forced to spend most of their time alone, confined to cages for 20-23 hours a day and denied the opportunity to walk or play. (Source)

What can I do to help an ex-racer dog?

As Heather told me, she adopted Sara from Greyhound Pets Inc.

Please kindly check Greyhound Pets Inc for more information on how to donate, volunteer, foster, or even adopt a ex-racer greyhound: https://www.greyhoundpetsinc.org/

They need you and me. Let's be inspired by Heather and stop animal cruelty!

Sara, thank you for teaching us forgiveness. Though you were mistreated by some people in the past, you still were such a bundle of sweetness.

So long, Sara 🌈 see you on the rainbow bridge!
